Welcome to My World: The Perfect Dog

by Mercy-Reign Brown

Welcome to my world, where dogs are not just pets; they are partners with people. I believe choosing the right dog is important because not every dog is built for the same kind of life. In my world, every dog has a purpose, and every person has a lifestyle that matches a certain dog. When you understand that, finding the perfect dog makes a lot more sense.

In my world, smart and hardworking dogs stand out to me, like the Border Collie. Border Collies are the smartest dog breed in the world. They are very easy to train and have great agility. They are often used on farms to herd sheep and other animals. When I see black and white dogs running quickly in farm movies or shows, I usually know it is a Border Collie. I think this dog is best for people who have lots of space and time, because Border Collies love to stay busy and learn new things.

Another dog that stands out in my world is the German Shepherd. When I think of loyalty and protection, this is the dog I imagine. German Shepherds are often used as police dogs because they are strong, smart, and brave. Even though they work in law enforcement, they also make great family pets. In my world, German Shepherds are dogs you can trust because they protect the people they love and form strong bonds with their families.

In my world, there are also dogs made for people who never stop moving, like the Belgian Malinois. This dog is used in the military for important jobs like explosive detection, suspect apprehension, and security patrol. Belgian Malinois are fast, strong, and extremely athletic. I imagine that if this dog were in my world every day, it would always be ready to run, train, and work. This dog is best for people who have a lot of energy and time to exercise and train their dog daily.

But the dog who truly brought me into this world is my dog, Eden.

We first met Eden and her foster mom at a festival. I remember watching her closely, trying to decide what kind of dog she was. At one point, a big guy walked over to throw something away nearby, and Eden suddenly started barking like crazy. She did not know him, and she was not okay with him being too close. Right then, I knew she would protect us.

A few days later, on a rainy afternoon, my siblings and I got off the bus, and our mom was standing there with Eden waiting for us. I was shocked and excited at the same time. She was coming home with us. At first, Eden was nervous. It took her a while to get used to everyone in our house because she may have been abused before she was rescued. But even with everything she had been through, she turned out to be the sweetest dog I have ever had.

Eden gets so excited when we come home. She wags her tail like it might fall off and runs to jump on us. Whenever she hears the doorbell or notices a stranger nearby, she barks and growls to protect our family. When I am feeling sad, she stays close to me, and somehow that makes everything feel a little better.

Of course, Eden is not perfect. She is a big chewer and a big foodie. She has chewed up toys, shoes, and even eaten cat food when she gets the chance. Even when she gets in trouble, we still laugh because that is just part of who she is.

Welcome to my world, where the perfect dog is not always about the breed. Sometimes the perfect dog is the one who chooses you, protects you, and loves you no matter what. Eden may be a mixed breed, but she is perfect for my family, and she reminds me that every dog deserves to be adopted and that every dog has a purpose.

Welcome to my world, where dogs and people work best when they are matched correctly. There are many dog breeds out there, and each one fits a different kind of person. I believe the perfect dog depends on your life, level of energy, and how much time you can give. When people choose the right dog, both the dog and the owner can live their happiest life together.
